Wendy Sarsons and Jacquie Levy are the co-owners of Action Potential Rehabilitation.
Jacquie Levy Registered Physiotherapist
Jacquie has more than 20 years experience in the areas of adult and paediatric neurology, and in working with clients with complex rehabilitation needs. Her special interests include the transition and re-integration of patients with multiple needs into the community and fitness programming for the disabled. Jacquie provides physiotherapy consultation and teaching to many of the community exercise programs for these clients in Ottawa, including the Acquired Brain Injury Program (City of Ottawa) and the Aphasia Centre of Ottawa. Jacquie and Wendy have taught several workshops for fitness instructors working with Stroke survivors.
Jacquie has worked as a member of the Ontario Provincial Guidelines Committee helping to establish guidelines for exercise programming for Stroke survivors and is the physiotherapy representative to the Health Advisory Committee of the Champlain LHIN.
Wendy Sarsons Registered Physiotherapist
Wendy has over 30 years of experience treating clients with neurological disorders including those with stroke, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and developmental delay. Wendy has both Advanced Paediatric NDT and adult training, and is a certified examiner of the Brazelton Neonatal Behavioural Assessment Scale (for infants). She has taken courses in a variety of treatment techniques including Kinesiotaping and Myofascial Release, and in specialty areas such as sensory processing, exercise in the neurological population and hand rehabilitation.
Wendy’s special interests include working with children and adults with stroke, and hand rehabilitation. She provides physiotherapy consultation to many programs for clients with special needs through the City of Ottawa including SPIRIT and SNAP programs, lifts and transfer training, summer camp staff training and individual consultation. She has also worked at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and at the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre.
Christine Campbell Registered Physiotherapist
Christine received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University in Missouri. She is a licensed physical therapist in the state of Michigan, as well as being registered to practice in Ontario. Christine has worked extensively in rehabilitation in the United States and Canada. While at The Rehabilitation Institute in Detroit Michigan, she was involved in the development of the inter-disciplinary Acquired Brain Injury unit. Her recent career has expanded on this early interest to the treatment of trauma clients in the community. She is a strong advocate of community re-integration following trauma and she strives to provide clients and their families with the necessary resources and support to achieve their optimal success.
Her area of interest and expertise includes, but is not limited to, the treatment of individuals who have sustained multiple trauma and those with neurological conditions. Recently, I have attended trauma and stroke conferences in Ottawa and Toronto. Christine is an authorizer for mobility devices with the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).
Eloise Bruner Registered Physiotherapist
Eloise graduated from McGill University in 1977 and worked at the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital until 1992. She has called Ottawa home since 1993. Elly has extensive experience working in community based rehabilitation, much of which has been with seniors. Her special interest is in working with clients with balance impairments and gait problems, as well as post-stroke. Elly also has orthopaedic training and experience, and has worked with sports teams and treated their related injuries. Elly is qualified to perform acupuncture to assist clients with pain relief. She is fluent in English, French,Hebrew and Yiddish.
Kitty (Caryl) Martinho Registered Physiotherapist
Kitty has over 25 years of experience as a physiotherapist. She has treated adults and children with neurological problems and a wide variety of other disorders. For the last 15 years her focus of specialty has been oncology and palliative care. Kitty has certification in manual lymphatic drainage and has training in acupuncture.
Michele Murphy Registered Physiotherapist
Michèle graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the University of Montréal and a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa. She has over 15 years of experience as a physiotherapist. Michèle worked for many years in the areas of cardiac and stroke rehabilitation, as well in acute respiratory care. Her current area of interest is in paediatrics working with children with developmental and acquired physical and neurological disorders. Michèle has participated in post-graduate courses such as NDT, Core Restoration, Kinesiotaping, and CME I and II. In her spare time, she enjoys being active with skiing, running and traveling.
Mona Kalra Registered Physiotherapist
Mona has 15 years of experience in the field of physiotherapy. She has a special interest in treating neurological conditions. Mona relishes the challenge of delivering professional and personalized care to her clients and is always striving to create an environment that supports positive thinking and a hope-filled attitude. Mona regularly undertakes specialized courses. She has completed the Bobath Concept Basic Course in the evaluation and treatment of adult hemiplegia (stroke) and has taken various orthopedic courses.
Wilma Berti Registered Physiotherapist
Wilma graduated from the physiotherapy program of McMaster University in 1993. She has Basic certification in the Bobath Concept (for adult hemiplegia following stroke) and has her Level 3 in manual physiotherapy. Over the last 17 years, Wilma has worked in various hospitals, private clinics and in community homecare. Her area of focus is in treating clients recovering from strokes and motor vehicle accidents.
Chantal von Schoenberg Registered Physiotherapist, Doctor of Physical Therapy
Chantal has several years experience working with client populations with neurological impairments (peripheral and central neuropathies, stroke, brain injury, spinal cord lesions), in children as well as adults. She previously worked and lived for 7 years in developing countries focusing on identification of developmental delays in small children. As well as working at Action Potential Rehabilitation, she is presently, working part-time at the University of Ottawa as professor/researcher in the Health Science department. She is fluent in English, French and Spanish, with a good knowledge of German.
Pat Fejes Registered Physiotherapist
Patricia is a registered physiotherapist with 16 years experience working in hospital and home based settings. She has completed courses in respiratory care, balance assessment and treatment, fall prevention and orthopedics. She has successfully completed the COPD Educator Certificate at the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences and has a special interest in working with individuals with respiratory conditions such as COPD and pulmonary fibrosis.
Margot Catizzone Registered Physiotherapist
Margot graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy. As a new grad she went to live and work in West Africa, where she started various rehab programs within the rural communities. Prior to commencing her physiotherapy career, Margot obtained an Honours Degree specializing in Kinesiology and worked as an athletic therapist. Margot has taken courses in NDT/Bobath for the Treatment of Adults with Hemiplegia, as well as in Orthopedic Manual and Manipulative Therapy. Margot is fluently bilingual and would be happy to offer her physiotherapy services in French.
Debbie Kaplan Registered Physiotherapist
A University of Ottawa graduate, Debbie has 18 years experience with orthopaedic injuries and Parkinsons exercise at The Ottawa Hospital and in private clinics in Ottawa. She has many continuing education credentials and her expertise includes manual therapy, neck and back assessments, musculoskeletal retraining, acupuncture, myofascial release, and acute MVA treatment. Debbie is fluently bilingual.
Nancy Bullis Exercise Therapist – BA (Physical and Health Education), B.Ed
Nancy has been developing post rehabilitative exercise programs in the community since 1999. She has worked as an Exercise Therapist on two Post Stroke research studies and one Arthritis research study. Nancy currently teaches a rehabilitative walking program at Jack Purcell and Dovercourt Community Centres, as well as a MS Exercise program at Jack Purcell. Nancy works as an Exercise Therapist for The Aphasia Centre of Ottawa, the Therapeutic Recreation Department’s Post Stroke and Acquired Brain Injury program, and Action Potential Rehabilitation. She is certified as a Clinical Exercise Specialist (ACE) and an Aquatic Rehabilitation Specialist (WaterART).
Christine Rogers Exercise Therapist – B.Ed from Worcester, England
Chris holds certifications in Fitness, Creative Movement and Exercise Design, and specializes in working with the Older Adult population and with people with disabilities. Chris has worked as an Exercise Therapist on a Post-Stroke Study as well as with breast cancer survivors to aid in the prevention and management of lymphedema. Chris currently works for the City of Ottawa teaching a Walking Rehabilitation program, an Integrated Weight Room program, as well as being a Personal Trainer and working for Action Potential Rehabilitation.
Jacquie Baillie Rehabilitation Assistant
Jacquie has training as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant, graduating in 1998. She has 12 years of experience working in pool therapy programs, rehabilitation, palliative care, geriatrics and with clients with stroke.
Krista Dicks Registered Massage Therapist
Krista Dicks has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2006. She is certified in Lymphedema Therapy through the Norton School of Lymphedema, 2008. She is also qualified in Infant Massage, and Infant Massage Instruction. She is a Queen's University Alumni with a B.A. in English. Krista is a certified Pilates instructor, and has also been selected for publication in the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork for her case report on erythromelalgia.
Jackie Sidwell Administrative and Accounts Manager
Jackie has training as a legal assistant, as well as having a business diploma. She has a wealth of experience in managing billing, reception and physiotherapy practices in general. She is the pleasant and patient voice answering the phone for Action Potential Rehabilitation.
